Balfour's Friends Foundation raises and distributes funds to assist people with low incomes, by contributing to the costs of veterinary care for sick or injured pets. The foundation, a registered charity, is a non-profit organization and relies on donations and fundraising to support pet owners and their pets. All varieties of pets are eligible.

The official purpose of the Balfour's Friends Foundation is:

            (a) To receive and maintain a fund or funds and to apply all or part of the principal and income there from time to time, for charitable purposes and to provide veterinary medical and support services to companion animals in the care of persons of low income in British Columbia and;

           (b) To raise money to fulfill the purposes of the society.
