Helping Pets In Need On Vancouver Island
Balfour’s Friends Foundation (BFF) provides financial aid for low-income pet owners on Vancouver Island, to help their sick and injured pets receive essential veterinary care and stay together with their families.
Who we are
Helping Low-Income Pet Owners with Vet Bills
Since 2012, BFF has raised and distributed hundreds of thousands of dollars across Vancouver Island to help low-income individuals such as seniors, persons with disabilities and single parents pay for essential veterinary care.
BFF is a registered charity. We are 100% volunteer-based and rely on fundraising, donations and grants. We are committed to keeping our administrative costs to a bare minimum so that almost all of the funds we raise go directly to pay for veterinary care.

What People are Saying About Us
Read the testimonials below to see first-hand accounts of the positive impact our services have had.
“Recently, Balfour’s Friends Foundation responded quickly and generously to cover the costs of a vet appointment for one of my clients whose dog had become acutely ill. Without their support, my client may have had to surrender his dog. Thanks to Balfour’s, my client and his companion continue to live together, which is the best therapy my client could ask for.”
Adam Newton Registered Social Worker“We cannot thank you enough for your donation towards Izzy’s broken leg. It means the world to us! She had to have a special surgeon to do the operation as it was a complicated surgery. We wouldn't have been able to bring her home without you. She's doing very well. She is here with us and on the mend and I am forever grateful. She is my best friend!”

“I am an emergency veterinarian and have seen at least three cases benefit from Balfour's Friends' help with medical expenses. Today, Balfours’ contribution literally made the difference between life and death for my patient. You make such a difference in people's lives, giving hope where there is very little, and some relief in very dark times. Thank you, on behalf of all the furry creatures that you help.”
